Maynilad leads students, distributes handwashing kits for Global Handwashing Day 2012

Quezon City

Water and wastewater company Maynilad distributed handwashing kits and taught the students of Corazon Aquino Elementary School in Quezon City, Philippines about the benefits of proper handwashing to celebrate Global Handwashing Day 2012.

Maynilad stressed how the simple habit of handwashing properly with soap can be the first and effective defense against illnesses such as common colds, diarrhea and pneumonia.

Renowned ventriloquist Ony Carcamo also joined Maynilad in promoting handwashing by performing with his puppets. He entertained the students, as well as the teachers and parents present, with stories about keeping healthy and fighting off diseases through handwashing.

Corazon Aquino Elementary School is a beneficiary of Maynilad’s Lingkod Eskwela program, which installs free drink-wash stations in public schools to give the kids access to clean water. Maynilad is also set to tour 40 public schools this year to teach more students about handwashing, the health benefits of water, and the need to take care of the environment through the Daloy Dunong water education drive.
