Creating Clean Hands Contest

About the Creating Clean Hands Contest

As part of the Global Handwashing Day 2024 campaign, the Global Handwashing Partnership is hosting a creative contest that aims to encourage youth (18 years or under) to express their ideas and creativity through a graphic promoting clean hands. This graphic can be created using traditional media, such as drawing or painting, or using digital media software.

How to Enter the Contest

This creative contest is open to all individuals up to 18 years of age, with a limit of one graphic entry per person. The contest will be judged under the following categories:

• Traditional Media (14 to 18 years of age)
• Traditional Media (13 years or under)
• Digital Media (14 to 18 years of age)
• Digital Media (13 years or under)

To submit your graphic to the contest, please upload your entry using this form here and also share your graphic via social media using #CreatingCleanHandsContest2024. The submission form will be open until 1 July. A release form is part of the submission process (see Authorization section below).

Graphic Inspiration

The graphic should illustrate why and/or inspire people to have clean hands. It may address the question, “Why are clean hands still important?” Please note the following suggestions:

• The graphic could symbolize the importance of handwashing with soap.
• The graphic could be educational and/or raise public awareness on the importance and need for handwashing with soap.
• The graphic could inspire an emotional response to encourage handwashing.
• The graphic could showcase innovation, through new design features or by using a creative slogan.

In addition, each participant should consider their current context for hand hygiene as they draw inspiration for composing their graphic.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded by category and will be determined by a set of expert judges. Groups will be sorted by age and graphic type, with a total of 4 winners. Honorable mentions may also be awarded. Winners from each category will receive a gift card with the totals below:

• 1^st Place: 365 USD (for the number of days in a year you should focus on hand hygiene)
• Honorable mentions: 20 USD (for the amount of seconds you should wash your hands)

Authorization

The Global Handwashing Partnership must have the required written release for your submission to be counted. Your authorization agrees that your graphic may be used publicly by the Global Handwashing Partnership. For any person under the age of 18, parent/guardian consent is required for authorization. If authorization is not provided, your submission will be disqualified.

By submitting a graphic, it is agreed that the Global Handwashing Partnership has the right to use and display the graphic for any organizational purpose. This includes, but is not limited to, displaying the graphic on the Global Handwashing Day website and through campaign materials, as well as sharing the graphic at upcoming Global Handwashing Partnership events or at other venues.
