International Medical Crops celebrated Global Handwashing Day 2014 in schools. These young children are at high risk of morbidity and mortality from diarrhea pneumonia, both of which are preventable by handwashing with soap at key times.
School administrators along with representatives from IMC spoke about the importance of this behavior. Later, the students participated in demonstrations, and games all on the subject of hand hygiene. The members of the school’s Sanitation Club presented a dramatic performance they prepared especially for the celebration.
