At the University of Kabianga (in Kericho, Kenya), public health students and the faculty in the Department of Environmental Health launched and celebrated Global Handwashing Day in Kapkatet Market.

Health education sessions focusing on the importance of washing hands with soap were conducted together with practical demonstrations illustrating effective handwashing with soap. This was done in Kapkatet  Market and Six Primary schools namely; Kapkatet Primary school, Matunda Grammer School, Garden of Hope academy, Morning star Academy, Tengecha boys and Tegecha Girls primary schools.Over 3,000 people 9both young children and elderly people washed hands with soap.
