Lifebuoy launched a new initiative to empower young girls to make a difference in their own communities through a partnership with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). To amplify this partnership, Lifebuoy hosted its largest press event in India with Kajol, Lifebuoy’s Help A Child Reach 5 ambassador. Kajol, Lifebuoy’s Help A Child Reach 5 ambassador, introduced the young girl guides who will be handwashing heroes and spread the message of handwashing to over 4 million people, helping prevent illness.
To celebrate Global Handwashing Day, Lifebuoy partnered with WAGGGS to empower girl guides and scouts to teach healthy hygiene habits through the School of 5. To do this, Lifebuoy customized the School of 5 program with an aim to inspire the WAGGGS community to drive the importance of handwashing across their groups. The program was developed and is now successfully implemented across two states. Lifebuoy and WAGGGS developed and designed a customized curriculum with Sparkle as girl guide, designed as a guiding for group learning and community action to guarantee uptake and ensure scalability of handwashing programming. Phase 1 was localized around Pune and then scaled up across Maharashtra, reaching a total of 3.2 million people.
