Global Handwashing Day celebration activities were organized in three CATS and six WASH in CFS project counties, 8 provinces in China. One poster and one leaflet, theme of “Our Hands, Our Future”, were developed and more than 110,000 copies were printed and distributed to 1,242 schools and kindergartens. Various community-based and school-based activities were conducted including writing & drawing contest, group watching handwashing video, class meeting on handwashing with soap, “six-steps handwashing” demonstration by local doctors, handwashing dance & song with local culture and language in minority group areas, group handwashing with soap were also organized in schools to make it as a routine practice. In total, UNICEF reached 338,000 students, 15,900 teachers, 2,000 community members & parents.
