UNICEF and Social Vision Services, with the help from government township administrators and EAO representative in Kayin State. Events at primary schools brought together community members, teachers, and heath staff. Celebrations were a fun opportunity to showcase and practice health and hygiene dos and don’ts and discuss in detail how washing hands with soap several times per day can have a major impact on children and the community’s health. 935 students from schools and about 300 households learned the importance of handwashing with soaps through media campaign and pamphlets. In addition, organizers also installed Global Handwashing Day-themed billboards in main public places in Kyarinseikgyi/Kyaikdon.
