UNICEF in Iraq supported several thematic campaigns with effective C4D messaging for its Global Handwashing Day event via its implementing partners, as well as well trained volunteer groups from the ministry of youth and sports. Over 20,495 schoolchildren (8,054 girls and 12,441 boys) in Iraq actively engaged in the celebrations, whereas developed IEC materials disseminated to those children which consisted of 13,000 brochures demonstrating the correct modality for hand washing their hands with water and soap, 15,000 soap bars, 10,000 leaflets, 20,500 awareness magazines advocate and promote for hygiene and healthy environment, 10,000 T-shirts, and 10,000 caps.
