One of the high-level advocacy events for Global Handwashing Day was held in Katsina state, Nigeria where the Permanent Secretary, Katsina State Ministry of Environment, led community members of the EEC Complex (compromised of the State Ministry of Environment, NESREA, Department of Forestry, SEPA and Arid Zone Afforestation Programme) in celebrating Global Handwashing Day. The Permanent Secretary urged all participants to carry on the message of behavioral change while stressing the firm commitment of the Ministry to collaborate with all stakeholders in promoting effective handwashing in order to rid Katsina State of diarrheal diseases. The Director requested for all participants to commit themselves to being change agents for a healthy society. He further expressed gratitude to KTRUWASSA for providing the Ministry with the hygiene materials. A total of 56 people participated in the handwashing demonstrations using water, soap and ashes.
