Present were dignitaries, local government deputies, and representatives from UNICEF Ghana, USAID, Plan Ghana, WaterAid, Ghana Water Company Ltd, CONIWAS, Ghana Education Service, community groups, schoolchildren, and district community members. In total about a thousand people were present to commemorate. Coverage and media  was handled globally by WASH Health Investment. 1,400 tippy taps were constructed by school children in Nadowli District during the weeklong celebration e as part of this year’s national Global Handwashing Day event, and also as a first step towards the practice of handwashing with soap at critical times in the communities that are participating in the commemoration of the event.

Prior to the national Global Handwashing Day celebration on the 14th October was the celebration in schools. The main objective of the school events was to create awareness of handwashing with soap in schools, encourage students to use handwashing facilities, and host fun quizzes and interactive games educating on hygiene.
