Water Hub Africa visited 2 local community schools, Abonnema Girls Grammar School and Nyemoni Anglican Secondary School, about 20km out of Port Harcourt city. The celebrations, which were supported by the Productive Education & Effective Leadership (PEEL) initiative had a total participation of 779 students from both schools. Water Hub Africa gave talks and sensitized the students who were mostly teenagers on the benefit of habitual Handwashing and its implications to health and education, gave out more than 800 books and educational materials,, donated a mobile handwashing stations to both schools, and installed Global Handwashing Day posters around the schools and in bathrooms.
