Highlights from the Global Handwashing Partnership’s 20th Anniversary

Founded in 2001, the Global Handwashing Partnership celebrated its 20-year anniversary in 2021. Growing from country pilot programs that led to the establishment to local public-private partnerships in 15 countries, the Global Handwashing Partnership has become a global leader in advocacy and knowledge management for hand hygiene.
In 2021, we accelerated hand hygiene progress, discussing key questions for the sector through our Handwashing Innovations Think Tank, supporting national-level commitments through Global Handwashing Day and the Hand Hygiene for All Country Roadmap Process, and coordinating with partners around the world to promote collective action.
